Difficulty Score Multiplier MCC?https://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5599-difficulty-score-multiplier-mcc/ Under matg/globals/globals for say halo 4 in the MCC, there is what seems to be the ability to change the multiplier for difficulty and skulls. Though when I change this and poke, nothing changes for it. Any ideas?

Ksoft seems to work fine on modifying gametypes on MCC PC insider. You can modify gametypes in this directory.

The only issue is ksoft is only working on windows 8. I have tried a lot to get it working on windows 10 including compatibility mode. Can any of you get it to work? Its very inconvenient to boot up virtual box every time I want to compile a gametype. Here is the link for ksoft.tool. http://www.halomods.com/ips/index.php?/files/file/32-ksofttool/

Trouble creating Assembly patches.https://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5441-trouble-creating-assembly-patches/ Well, patching has never been an issue before but for some reason now it is.

When I make a mod for Halo 3 and test it on console it works just fine, but when creating the patch for other people to test it turns out the patch is corrupted.

The patch itself is created, it can be applied, etc. But when testing the patched map it throws a "Disk is unreadable" error and when opening said map on Assembly it just crashes.

I've had some problems with tag extraction and injection and I'm able to solve them with patience.

But five patch errors in a row?

I repeat, this has never happened before. What's going on with Assembly?

Assembly - Blam Research Toolhttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/3263-assembly-blam-research-tool/ release_logo.png

screen.png

After eight months of development, we are proud to announce the first stable release of Assembly, a 100% open-source Blam/Halo research tool and map editor. It enables users to both research how the Halo games work and also share creative modifications that are made. Assembly was built from the ground up with four goals in mind:

  • Flexibility - Assembly is capable of seamlessly opening and editing .map, .mapinfo, and .blf files from Halo 2: Vista, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4, with support for more games coming soon.
  • Speed - Spend more time modding and less time waiting for trivial tasks to complete. Even the largest tags load extremely quickly with invisible fields enabled, and search and autocomplete features throughout the program allow you to find what you need quickly
  • Usability - We built Assembly using Windows Presentation Foundation and utilized modern UI design concepts. Thus, assembly is both easy to use and easy to look at.
  • Customizability - Don't like the default blue look? Select from one of four different UI themes. Don't like how the View Value As tool is laid out? Make your own meta editor plugin for it. Almost everything in Assembly can be customized in some way. Not to mention that the source code is freely available on GitHub to give you even more control.

Supported Features:

  • Beta versions of games are supported
  • Patch compatibility from Alteration and Ascension
  • Patches can contain name, author, description, and target map information
  • Voxel converter for creating custom Halo 4 loading screens
  • Plugin generator
  • Plugin editor with syntax highlighting code completion
  • Plugin converter for converting Ascension and Alteration plugins to the new format
  • Add support for other similar builds on the fly with XML
  • "Xbox Memory" sidebar for controlling your console and taking screenshots
  • Automatic update system

Maps:

  • Tagnames decrypted for all games
  • StringIDs decrypted for all games
  • BlamScript decompilation for Reach (soon to be all games)
  • Locale viewing and editing, with special characters (e.g. button icons) replaced with XML tags
  • Meta data viewing, editing, and searching
  • Meta data "View Value as" window

BLF:

  • Extract existing images
  • Inject new images

MapInfo:

  • Edit map ID
  • Edit map internal name
  • Edit map external name and description

Halo Reach: Debug Output For Scriptshttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5397-halo-reach-debug-output-for-scripts/ What is this?

These are Xex patches which will add debug output to Reach's scripts. At the moment they have two main features. Whenever Reach's "print" script function is called, its message string is intercepted and printed on the Debugger running on your PC. Secondly, these patches can also activate and modify the debug camera. It will now display the last printed message. Even when you are not connected to a debugger, you should now be able to keep track of what's going on behind the scenes.

Demonstration:

Spoiler

scripts.png

Capture2.PNG

Some possible use cases:

  • Debugging custom scripts:  Just Include some "print" instructions in your script and find out if and when your code is executed.
  • Script Research: Open a complicated, decompiled script file on your PC. Now play through the corresponding mission on your console and watch the debug output. By searching for the messages in the file, you can quite easily follow the control flow and find out which functions are called at what points during the mission.

Disclaimer:

My understanding of PowerPC assembly and the xbox360's inner workings is very limited. Not much testing has went into this project. Even though I haven't encountered any issues so far, it is possible that these patches could negatively impact the game's performance. Please use them at your own risk.

Requirements:

  1. A Xbox 360 with debugging capabilities. This means you need a XDK or at least a hacked console running RGLoader.
  2. DevTool, developed by Eaton: https://eaton-works.com/devtool/

Usage:

  1. Start your console and connect it to your debugger. I have only tested WinDbg so far, but Visual Studio should also work.
  2. Start Halo Reach.
  3. Open Devtool and switch to the Patching tab.
  4. Copy the entire text of the patch of your choice and paste it into DevTool's Textbox. Please make sure to use a patch corresponding to your games version (NoTU / TU1).
  5. Press the "Compile and Write" button. Wait until a prompt appears, asking you if you want to apply the patch to memory. Accept it.
  6. Optional: In the scnr tag of your .map, set all script globals, which are boolean and contain the word "debug" to true. This will ensure that all your map's print instructions will be called.

Note: In theory it should also be possible to permanently apply these patches to your Xex using XePatcher. Strangely enough I never managed to get the changes to stick, which has frustrated me more than I am willing to admit. If you get it to work, please let me know.

  • HS_print = Debug output only.

Old 2007 collection of unofficial tutorials mostly halo 2https://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5288-old-2007-collection-of-unofficial-tutorials-mostly-halo-2/ I used to mod halo 2 in 2007, and I would copy down tutorial posts on the halomods forums on a regular basis. Maybe it's all useless or maybe someone will find something helpful. Since a lot of that is probably, gone, thought someone may want to see it, so here it is.

It's very specific but it would be of great assistance if anyone could teach me how.

Assembly unable to "poke" to my XDK Test Kithttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5188-assembly-unable-to-poke-to-my-xdk-test-kit/ Hello,

I have a genuine Test kit with sidecar, Neighbourhood is working great & within assembly I am able to restart a title and take a screenshot. I am not able to poke any data to H3 Epsilon despite changing the "Game specific resource" settings.  Is there anything I'm missing? could this be due to it being a test kit not a dev kit?

Cheers

(SOLVED apparently)Assemly not saving "Game specific resource cache" datahttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5203-solved-apparentlyassemly-not-saving-game-specific-resource-cache-data/ Like the title says, everytime I add the folder path for resources for certain games I always close Assembly.

But now the program won't save the folder paths. When I look at the Map Editor Settings and I check, lets say Halo 3 ODST, the folder path is now missing and I'm forced to add it again.

Why isn't it saving that data? It used to save it.

Is there now a button to save data on Settings or what?

[Wip] Quickbeamhttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/3522-wip-quickbeam/First off, sorry for my stupid [WIP] Leaflock thread from months back. WIP threads are only worthwhile if you've actually accomplished something.

Therefore... Check it out! Scriptable runtime reference-swapping!

WkQL8gu.png

I think a few of you remember my Quickbeam project. I decided scripting was an important feature, so decided to rewrite the backend in Python, which has been a huge success.

I've had a lot of help getting this far from the Halo Mac users at MacGamingMods, and using Python means this can potentially be cross-platform so the Mac modders can use it as well (as LeafLock was supposed to be).

My next step is baking this functionality into some sort of UI. If I heavily borrowed Assembly's ideas, it could look something like this (no promises, though): http://i.imgur.com/1cVrtiw.png

Assembly refuses to start, hangs PChttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/4920-assembly-refuses-to-start-hangs-pc/I have looked everywhere for a solution for this problem, i tried running it on windows 7 and 10, but neither work!

Whenever I Download it with the chaos downloader, i have selected master and dev, neither work. It just freezes the explorer window that i start it with. When i close it out, it always says its running in system. So i have to reboot and then delete it. But sometimes if i dont delete it fast enough it starts on its own and i have to reboot again! Im running windows 10 and i have run it on 7 too. I tried using the sourceforge version in 2013, it started, when i updated it froze and never worked again.

Raw Page Hash Checkerhttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/4445-raw-page-hash-checker/ Update 8/24: The CRC value has been changed to an signed integer, rather than unsigned, to match Assembly plugins. Thanks to Lord Zedd for pointing this out.

This is a tool which will grab the CRC and Hashes for raw pages from 3rd Gen Halo games. This won't do much on its own, but it might help if you want to mess with raw pages. This might help as well. Credits to Lord Zedd and AMD for figuring out the hashing methods and sharing that info with me.
