It wasnt until 2016 that I actually released a polished Campaign Forge map, The Storm. For reasons I wont get into I didn't work on the other Campaign maps until this last month. I plan to get all of the Halo 3 maps ported to Forge in the next few months. I might move on to ODST after this one is complete but that's TBD. I'm very hesitant to do Halo Reach or Halo 4 due to multiplayer team colors no longer matching up with AI teams and memory limitations. 

My main goals for this project are as follows:

  • Forge on Campaign levels with up to 4 local players supported (This doesn't work over network games sorry)
  • Give players access to more freedom in Campaign via Forge menus and removed map boundaries.
  • Maintain a standard of stability and feature set. Players can expect the exact same features on every single map, though Forge items will change depending on what assets are available.
  • Rework some of the more annoying parts of Halo 3 by making Cortana moments audio only. 
  • Allow players to access Forge items at any time. Load zones will no longer despawn objects like the standard campaign.
  • Allow players to build pseudo AI encounters with the Forge menu and tool hotkeys.
  • Join whichever faction you would like by switching teams in the pause menu. Fight other players with your AI buddies.
  • Respawn at any given time at the same area you died at.

 

For the most part im going to release most of these maps in order. The first half of Halo 3 is smaller maps going by memory limitations so id like to grind those out of the way before getting to big maps like The Covenant and The Ark. Cortana will more than likely be released before those two. I dont think Halo is going to play too well due to how many scripted scenery objects are placed on the warthog run. When converting Campaign maps to forge you have to lower the amount of objects on the map to below roughly 500. This is because Forge map variants only store around that many objects. If you dont the game will crash at map runtime.

As each map is finished I sometimes come across changes or features that would improve the quality of life for this project. When this feature is completely realized and put into place ill add these features or changes to older maps already released. So if you see a new feature or change in a newly released map dont fright, Ill be releasing updates for the older maps very shortly.

  • Tsavo Highway: Forge menu started, still needs plenty of work.

  • The Ark: Basic multiplayer properties setup, crashes at pelican unload.

Features and changes for all maps:

 

Forge Menus:

Weapons:

  • All weapons in the tags will be available if they have raw data.
  • Oddball with from multiplayer will be available since the skull is on all maps.
  • Detached turrets will be available.

 

Vehicles:

  • All vehicle in the tags will be available if they have raw data.
  • Special variants of vehicles will be added like the civilian Warthog.
  • Campaign vehicles like the Pelican have been made drivable and player friendly.

 

Equipment:

  • All equipment in the tags will be available if they have raw data.
  • Activated deployable equipment will be available.

 

Scenery:

  • All scenery in the tags will be available if they have raw data.

 

Artificial Intelligence:

  • All AI in the tags will be available if they have raw data.
  • Special variants of AI like Johnson and Elite Zealots will be added if possible.
  • There will be options to spawn AI on teams they are not normally assigned to. IE Brutes on the Human team.
  • AI teams are indicated by the item text color.
  • AI is spawned on the fly thus don’t have spawn points placed.

 

Tool Hotkeys:

  • AI Ignore All Players (Back + Left Trigger) - AI wont attack players or forge monitors in any way when enabled.
  • Toggle AI logic (Back + Melee) - When disable AI wont do any at all when. This includes dropships flying around.
  • Save Checkpoint (Back + Right Trigger) - This saves a checkpoint duh.
  • Revert Checkpoint (Back + Start) - This will load your last saved checkpoint. If there isn't one saved the mission will restart.

 

General Features and Changes:

  • 4 Respawn points in each encounter area. These spawn points will be updated depending on your mission progress. These have been carefully tested so you don’t get stuck ahead or behind your current progress.
  • All AI vehicles such as Pelicans and Phantoms can now be entered, they no longer block the player from entering.
  • AI Vehicles such as the Anti Air Wraith no longer explode when there is no driver.
  • You can join the covenant or flood teams by switching to their team in the pause menu.
  • Those annoying Cortana and Gravemind moments have been reworked so they only play audio without slowing down the player or rendering screen effects.
  • You can trade weapons with any AI ally such as the Arbiter.
  • All map boundaries have been removed. Most death barriers have also been removed aside from the ones that kill you from falling.
  • Most non scripted scenery objects removed from the map so you have more items to spawn before hitting the limit.
  • All mission checkpoints removed so players can save manually.

ODST - Alternate Mombasa Streets and Night firefight maps.https://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5204-odst-alternate-mombasa-streets-and-night-firefight-maps/ I made an alternate version of Mombasa streets and the night firefight maps. It includes the Battle Rifle, SMG and Magnum injected from Halo 3, complete with their firing sounds to make them as Halo 3 as possible. The weapons are obtainable via weapon cache's and the racks at the start of firefight. In firefight, it is possible to play as an elite by selecting Dare as your player character. The elites colour is based off your selection in the appearence editor too. 
Dual wielding works with the elite too. Oh and the elite has a light to replace VISR.

Finally got to separating the maps from campaign (ty Zedd) so the firefight only download is the more feature packed one, it comes with a halo3.campaign file which may not work (it doesn't confirmed) but if you want to edit your own one, add 8956 to the next free box in the campaign file.   

The campaign only download is so you can play campaign with the weapons BUT they are downgraded to fit the file size so the map doesn't crash. Scroll to the very bottom of the firefight maps list in the main menu to see the maps names "Crater (mod)" and "Rally (mod)"

THINGS I ADDED:
- Actual shield bar for the Elite that depletes and regens, the color of the bar still indicates health.
- Got rid of the crap red damage effect when taking fire.
-The color for the HUD is now the elite blue/green from H3 (for both ODST and Elite)

Now the turret anim still hasn't been fixed because that's pretty much the only vehicle that's in those maps and cbf doing it just for that.

The Flood have touched down in New Mombasa, and your team is all that is left.

Requires the Map ID 8188 to be added to your game's .campaign file, as well as the latest ODST xex that unlock all missions.

Final filename should be "outbreak.map".

This mod includes every flood form from Halo 3, including the cut banger infection, as well as a more-powerful human form for infected players and an infected engineer.

Third Person can be turned on and off with d-pad down and d-pad up, respectively.

Only real issue is that the Infection Forms tend to count towards the wave ai counter, so if a wave isn't ending you will need to go hunting for them.

This mod brings some new features to the game as well as bringing back some others that went absent from previous games, mostly the reincorporation of old Elite enemies.

What's new to the mod for version 1.0:

=Weapons=

DMR. Still has some BR assets, but it works as expected and has greater zoom. It isn't as common as the BR.

Brute Plasma Rifle. Works just like it's Halo 2 counterpart and can now be used by other units.

Brute Plasma Pistol. Based on the one from SPV3. Fires three bolts per shoot, slower than default Plasma Pistol, wastes more battery and has an overcharged shot of a firebomb grenade.

(Note: None of these three weapons replace the originals)

CE Assault Rifle. For v1.0 it still has it's Halo 3 crosshair, might change it for new versions.

Needler now fires slower like in Halo 2 and has 20 needles per magazine like in Halo CE. Certain Jackals can now be seen using it like in Halo 3:ODST.

Energy Sword can now strike as soon as it is taken out like back on Halo 2.

 

=Enemy encounters=

Some Brutes now use the new weapons.

Jackals will sometimes use the BPP like in SPV3 and as levels go they will eventually get to use the secondary shot. Certain Sniper Jackals also use it as secondary weapon.

Heavy Grunts will now always use the Spiker no matter what. Only exceptions will include their encounters with a Fuel Rod Gun.

Starting on The Storm, Ultra Grunts will use the overcharged shot of the Plasma Pistol.

Several encounters have been replaced with Elite encounters. Some squads are random, others appear on higher difficulties (they don't appear on Tsavo Highway).

 

=Other stuff=

Elites N'tho Sraom and Usze 'Taham will now aid the player with the Arbiter. This mod is not meant to be played 3 or 4 player Co-op at the moment.

Some Marines will spawn using the DMR by default. This was made in order to have it throughout the levels until I find a way to add it to weapon boxes or other places.

Some Elites can go berserk under certain circumstances and pull out an Energy Sword. Minors and Majors don't count.

Missions Crow's Nest and The Storm can have brief freezing moments at "Loading" points. This is because I had to turn some zonesets on for the whole mission in order to have some stuff spawning correctly. No crashing whatsoever.

Brute Plasma Pistol's assets aren't complete. When overcharging the gun it still has green effects. I still don't know how to fix that. Otherwise it works fine.

DMR's projectile is buggy on Crow's Nest while inside the main base. Once you go on to face the first Grunts, it goes back to normal.

Not a bug, but N'tho and Usze just don't appear during cutscenes. At the moment this can't be changed.

first attempt: Black screen; frustrated

second attempt: Freeze at certain point in mission; irritated

third attempt: Success. Had to play through the clean Tsavo Highway mission first before conversion)

 

Anyway! Welcome to Forge in Campaign - Tsavo Highway. This conversion is my first map conversion for Halo 3, and it includes just about everything added to forge palette such as:

  • Selectable Weapons
  • Vehicles
  • Equipment
  • Scenery
  • Respawn Point

This is indeed, my first conversion, so don't expect anything spectacular other than playing through the mission with Forge. Gamecheat13 plans on creating a whole series in Halo 3 for Forge in Campaign; AI scripts, and much more...

Play As an ODST on The Ark (split-screen supported)https://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5317-play-as-an-odst-on-the-ark-split-screen-supported/ Hey guys, I made a simple mod which basically allows you as well as your friend to play as ODSTs on The Ark. It is in 1st person, meaning that there is kind of no point to this mod, however, if you watch it in Theater mode it is pretty interesting to watch. Also, the gameplay feels like you are an ODST due to the tweaks I made to the health, melee, and speed. I have yet to provide images of the mod and will do so soon.

  • Melee is decreased to match the melee of a marine

Halo 3 playable multiplayer bruteshttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5416-halo-3-playable-multiplayer-brutes/ This mod allows you to customize, colour and play as your own brute in multiplayer though its in very early development at the moment and I haven't tested it with more than one person as I'm using Xenia. 

The helmet and the body work perfectly apart from one or two helmets but most work fine. The armour does not load in-game for some reason and I will figure out for the next update which should be a polish like make sure everything loads and the armour works properly. All aniamtions work and I've added a fp model with some brute shaders on but will try to mess around with nodes and custom bitmaps to make it look better in the future.

I also highly recommend using my modded xex. The mod will still work with a normal modded xex, but mine will enable modified object spawning sizes, which some of the ai/vehicles use is the whole point of this mod. My xex is using TU1 so im not sure if it works with other TU or not.

Think you can fight the gods? There are four diffferent rounds, one after the other after each die, then a final round. This map has lots of scripts, in fact just about everything is scripted, the ai, everything they do, a garbage collection script to keep the map going without lag, scripted working elevator, scripted giant moving doors for the bonus round, pelican weapon capsules constantly scripted to drop from the sky for replenished ammo, friendly ai will constantly respawn when low on numbers, music is scripted to switch for the bonus round, etc. Also, some edited projectiles, a some extra weapon capsules way out there, if you dare enough to go get them, edited effects, the scarabs will chase humans all around the map. First there will be two giant stalker brutes with red loud laser beams from their heads, then giant hunters, then scarabs, then giant brute chieftains with hammers, then the bonus round with everybody at once. Also imported the same scripts from the trench funrun mod, select+switch grenades for switching 50% and 100% gravity, and select+melee for toggling invincible players.

I threw in my scripting notes to the folder as well if anyone is interested in understanding the scripts. It's a serious mess in there, it's not elegant at all, it just works, just for research/examples or whatever.

I'm planning on making EVERY map in campaign converted over to forgehttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5374-im-planning-on-making-every-map-in-campaign-converted-over-to-forge/ I have just started a project that i have always wanted for a very long time now and yes gamecheat13 (Inspired me to actually do this) did make the covenant and the storm forgeable i plan on expanding on that, i have started on floodgate which i have broken many times (i believe around 20x) just trying to convert it and make Ai. Floodgate is very gltichy at the moment as i used it to test stuff out. i have completed sierra 117 and i am now on crows nest. I planned to complete this by saturday but due to me wanted to add as much as possible that people want (i have gotten a few suggestions by GeneralKidd, Tuco (A good youtuber: TucoStudio) and a few other suggestions, it will be a week to a month long project (probably week long). If people like this i will try to do it with both odst and reach. Also feel free to suggest any other mods you would like me to do. And if anyone has any knowledge about maps or whatever you think would help me out that would be appreciated as well!

I also highly recommend using my modded xex. The mod will still work with a normal modded xex, but mine will enable modified object spawning sizes, which some of the ai/vehicles use. My xex is using TU1 so im not sure if it works with other TU or not.

So basically this is the warthog trench run campaign map. But now, there is a lot more to do. There are around 20+ different vehicles to choose from, along with optional marines to load into your vehicles (they are blind and have rockets LOL). Edited cutscenes, a whole bunch of driveable bipd, many edited/added/increased ai battles, scripts such as button combos for invincibility toggle, and 100% or 50% gravity toggle, marines will never fall out of their seats when flipped, dodging kamikaze plasma grenade grunts, a nuke gun, giant hunters, there will be no ending cut scene, instead you can jump straight inside of the frigate and play around inside, and much more stuff. In fact so much stuff, I can't even add another chunk of data with the game freezing. Also, the marines can be a real pain sometimes to get in vehicles, you just have to keep honking and get their lazy ass up there. Also in order to use the elephant correctly you have to go through the walls at the islands just like gamecheat13 did in his video.

some of this stuff was imported/edited from gamecheat13 and lord zedd, so thankyou to those two for some of their mods.

also, select+switch grenades switches 50% and 100% gavity, and a secret combo select+melee for invicible players (useful when the marines keep killing you with rockets)

Halo 3 Playable Cinematics, hidden cinematics, restored animationshttps://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5268-halo-3-playable-cinematics-hidden-cinematics-restored-animations/ Working on this the past few months has taught me a lot on how halo 3 script expressions work. This mod includes every hidden cinematic, and many restored animations. Every single cutscene the player could not move around is included. Each campaign map will skip straight to the zoneset with cutscenes and teleport the player straight through each mission. I added enough for up to two players at once to properly play in co-op if needed.  Hud and first person models removed for best experience. Characters on a screen are now brought into the room. All annoying cortana scenes are also brought to the player without annoying screen effects. Thanks to akarias and zedd for some help on some of this. Enjoy.

Halo 3 : Play as odst third person / fight Elites on "THE ARK"https://www.xboxchaos.com/topic/5271-halo-3-play-as-odst-third-person-fight-elites-on-the-ark/ I know the modding community is dead and all but I'm just throwing it out there so other people can enjoy, this is a simple swap that lets you play as odst third person and gets rid of the brutes and replaces them with elites, I enjoy fighting elites rather than brutes, I have many maps like this I am willing to upload ;) make sure you have modded xex obviously haha.
