How To Fire Objects With A Projectile Speed

Ive been doing this for along time and is somewhat pointless just for a .map however when your in a online game and whenever real time is able this is alot of fun. ie. shooting cones at each other.

this is a video showing the final effect

this can be real timed so you dont have to save anything if you are able to real time. this will also work in reach. however i havent got a proper effe plugin set up yet.

after all these steps either save or poke changes

-open alteration to whatever map you are playing

-go to the weapon that you wish to shoot out the object

-go to barrels and simply for appearance null the projectile

-now go to fireing effects and change that to an effect that releases an item. i choose the trans_turret_troop_major because unless you change the warthogs turret you wont activate this effect. however there are many other effects that work if there isnt a warthog like the mongoose_wheel_destroyed_major and so forth

-now to actually make the effect work cause right now if you shoot you wont see the new effect

-go into effe and choose the original fireing effect. in a standard plugin at the top you will see MarkerName. but if your in the new version of alteration you will only see a string value. i will include a plugin at the bottom that shows both the string and the float value. simply overright your old plugin and at the bottom hit refresh

-copy the float value for the marker name and go to the new firing effect and paist that over the old one. this will reposition it for the weapon so it shows properly.

-now near the middle in parts you will see the settings you will be changing. the only ones your going to have to worry about is attachment, velocity (min and max), and the cone angle. the cone angle is the ammount of spread it can go

-set the cone angle to 0 and then the velocitys min and max to whatever you want the speed of the new projectile to be. i normally set it to about 28.

-now all you have to do is change the attachment to whatever you want fired and shoot and you should see it. you can repoke the new projectile as many times as you want.

-the main advantage of shooting things out like this is they arent actual projectiles but instead effects. so there is a limit of how many can be on the map and they dissapear if they hit the limit and after so long. making it so its very hard to lag the game. if you interact with the object such as pick up a weapon or get in a vehicle it wont dissapear.

you need a jtag on this dont you.

for halo 3 when modding the only things you can do with a transfer cable or usb is modding a usermap, screenshot, film, and gametype. of all those when modding the usermap its only positions of objects that will then be loaded from the .map. no actual settings are saved in there.

when the tut goes to the part where you want me to past the new offset of the old fireing effect ? where do i past the offset at i coppied in the marker change name ?
