REMEMBER TO UPDATE YOUR CURRENT LIBERTY!!!

MODIO HERE

Tutorial

First of all, get your xbox 360 configured usb and plug it into your xbox 360. Navigate to System Settings and go into System Settings.

img4443b.jpg

Sorry for low quality, my capture card broke.

Now select Memory and go to into your Hard Drive.

img4446h.jpg

Find Games and inside you should find Halo: Reach. Now go into there and find a file with your EXACT profile name. Select it and select move in the screen that comes up. Move it to your usb.

img4452sptd.jpg

Okay, now let's move on to the PC.

Open up Modio with your usb plugged in. Click explore a device and click File. You should see a drop-down box with the option Open/Close Drive. Click it. Your screen should now look like this:

unledspf.jpg

Expand the Content folder, then the randomized numbers and letters folder, then the Halo: Reach folder, then in the Gamesaves folder, you should see a file named with randomized numbers and letters. This is your save.

unledgci.jpg

Drag that file to your desktop. Now for the fun part...

BEGINNER TUTORIAL (PLEASE FOLLOW FIRST TO LEARN THE CONCEPT)

Open up Liberty and it should look like this:

unledmxt.jpg

If it doesn't have the Select Save file on your Computer option ticked, tick it and click next. If it does, just click next. On the window, click the open button. In the selection window that pops up navigate to the file on your desktop and open it. When it's done loading, click OK.

unledmlg.jpg

I've blacked out my GT to prevent stalkers. You know who you are squint.gif

Click OK if that's your info. In the next window, you can make yourself (and the current vehicle you might be in) invincible! YAYZ! laugh.gif Just tick the only box there. The position data is where you are. We probably don't want to edit that for now.

unledsjh.jpg

Click OK and on to the next window! This is my personal favorite just because I like to press a lot of buttons tongue.gif . Time to edit some weapons! Let's max everything to ensure we don't run out of ammo (or grenades) while kicking covenant ass!

unleddu.jpg

Click OK. We now move towards the end of my first tutorial sad.gif Anyway, this window is pretty advanced for inexperienced people, so I'm not going do anything here to throw you off. But this is for editing individual tags in the save, allowing you to move items and other stuff like that. Click OK. The final editing window has one box that makes all currently loaded weapons have max ammo. Let's tick it! biggrin.gif

unledwtm.jpg

Click OK. Now we are at the last point of this tut. Liberty automatically rehashes and resigns the save, so all we have to do is put it back on the usb and to the xbox. Click OK to close Liberty. Now go back to your Modio window. Right click in the folder with your old save file in it, and click Insert File. Select your modded save on your Desktop and hit open. When it asks to replace it, click Yes.

unledcb.jpg

Alrighty then, time to put your save back on the xbox hard drive. Just put the usb in, go to System Settings, Memory, Games, Halo: Reach, and select the save named after your profile name. Select Move and move it to your Hard Drive. You are now ready to play your modded save!

NEW UPDATED AND ADVANCED TUTORIAL

With the new version of Liberty out, I decided to update my tut to show how to use the advanced and new features of Liberty. First, follow my tutorial of getting your save to your comp. Now open up Liberty and it should look like this:

unledmxt.jpg

If it doesn't have the Select Save file on your Computer option ticked, tick it and click next. If it does, just click next. On the window, click the open button. In the selection window that pops up navigate to the file on your desktop and open it. When it's done loading, click OK.

unledmlg.jpg

I've blacked out my GT to prevent stalkers. You know who you are squint.gif

Click OK if that's your info. Now, the new features in Liberty here allow us to switch our current biped (character) with any loaded biped at that checkpoint. In my save, no bipeds besides mine (Noble 6) are loaded. But that shouldn't stop you if you have some loaded. Open the drop-down box and switch Noble 6 with a new sexy biped. Anything you have loaded will do, whether it's covenant or Kat. You can also tick the box directly under the biped swapper, witch saves your current weapons to your new biped.

unledwx.jpg

There are also three boxes displaying your biped's X, Y, and Z coordinates. With these you can change the numbers to move you forward or back, up or down, or side-to-side. Extremely, or just a tid-bit by tweaking one number. Let's set all the coordinates' last numbers to 9, which will move you slightly in each direction (please make sure your in an open area before you do this so you don't collide with anything or fall off anything).

unledvab.jpg

The last new feature on the first page (other than the one about idents, which is used to help the devs of Liberty) is Noclip. This turns off physics and collision which means you can go through anything and certain controls and code in the save are disabled. You won't be able to move up or down if you enable this. It also disables the ability to complete the level, so only tick if you just want to play around.

unleddrg.jpg

Click OK to move on. This window is covered in the old tutorial and has no new features, so click OK again. The new features here allow you to edit bipd (character) and vehi (vehicle) child objects (children in Liberty) which are parts or items currently equipped to another item. Ex. A wraith turret. Some tags (bipd) are also named! A very helpful feature used to identify tags. Named tags are usually bipeds unless you've got ascension taglists (explained later) but unless you have those, most tags will be named after their .map ident. Now on to editing child objects and moving positions!

unledgqo.jpg

These children coordinate edits are used to play around in the save, not as much to cheat or gain an advantage. More about child objects: Each child object has a parent. A parent is the item using the child object(s). Now expand the bipd box and find your character name (in my case, Noble 6). Next to a button called CHILDREN should say how many child objects are attatched to the parent (in my case, 4). Click CHILDREN. You probably see weap (weapon) tags and an equip (equipment which is an armor ability) tag. Well, the weapon tags are most likely unnamed so you have to do guess work and test something stupid tongue.gif Click on one weapon tag and change the coordinates last numbers to nine. If one is already nine bump up the next number and set the previous to zero (dominoe effect applies). Now do the same for the other child weapon tags.

unledtol.jpg

The last features here are to replace or delete tags. Another thing used just to play around and should only be used when you know what tag you replace or delete. Try it out a bit, and only some tags can be replaced (weapons, equipment etc.). So click OK when you're done here.

The next window's only new feature is a custom message displayed when you resume the save. I'm going to put in "Ozzycow54 is badass!" You do whatever you want AHEMPutInOzzycow54IsSexyOrYouWillDieAHEM.

unleddub.jpg

Click OK and your save will be modded, but we ain't done with Liberty yet jtag/XDK users and smart people with retail 360s...

SETTINGS, YAYZ!!! Click on settings on the top of Liberty. Click TAGLIST SETTINGS. A taglist is a file that names tags. First of all, if you use Ascension you might have some taglists already in your .maps folder. If you only have a retail though, you'll need to download some. They can be found HERE

Note that almost ALL campaign maps won't have a taglist. Try looking up some. Have your taglists in a folder you'll remember. I put mine on my desktop and named it Taglists (I'm a creative little bugger ain't I tongue.gif ) Now tick the box that says Import Taglists From Ascension and click FIND. Browse to the folder you store your taglists in and that's it. Now a map(s) will have more named tags.

UPDATED TUTORIAL, ♥

With Liberty being updated, and me currently at 99 posts, I wanted to make my hundredth count by updating and posting in this topic! If you've never used Liberty before, be sure to follow the tutorials above ↑

I'm going to go over the new features of Liberty, so let's get started:

Look at that new GUI:

96179291.jpg

With your save loaded, the "Fine Tuning" part is where it's at. We can now resize things and add 2 more weapons to your biped (that makes four, hombres). It's also much easier to use now.

53700517.jpg

As you can see, I've loaded Noble Six. I'm going to make him three times the normal size :D And give him a rocket launcher and shotgun, in addition to the assault rifle and pistol. In the "Scale" box, you can put in the number of how much you want to increase the model size of the object (in this case, Noble Six). I would put in 3.

47939560.jpg

It's a good idea (if you resize a biped) to resize it's child objects by the same multiplier. They can be viewed by clicking the "Carrying" button. It's rocket/shotgun time :D

Click the "Weapons" tab while viewing a biped and click "Add". Add the weapons you want in the window that pops up. When you're finished, you can max out their ammo by viewing their tags and clicking over to the "Weapon" tab.

31826449.jpg

You can also replace turrets on vehicles, like the gauss hog with the wraith turret. You just have to make sure that you highlight the original weapon and click "Drop", then click "Add" and select the new weapon.

52187576.jpg

There are new tabs in the object editor, enabling you to do things quicker, and check things. It's very handy.

After you're done editing, you can proceed to resign your save and put it back on your HDD.

Yep, Xerax completely threw out a 3rd-party DLL we were using and made his own set of Metro controls.

Thanks! I'm really looking for an XDK though. I'm trying to save some money for an unbanned XDK with a sidecar (I'm being very detailed because I know the people I wanna buy from ;) ).

Updated

Awesome! Thank you so much for making this.

sidenote: we originally planned on putting 4 weapon support in the weapon editor screen, but there are some rather major glitches with replacing your primary weapon that we haven't completely worked out yet. So we put it in the object editor since we figured that people who knew what they were doing wouldn't care about them as much.

sidenote2: looks like some text is being cut off due to missing fonts. We need to fix that.

Hundredth post by the way, just wanted to say that this is the best modding site ever!

Congratulations! And yes, it is

Thanks a lot, I enjoyed riding a mongoose while my spartan was gigantic :D I'm pretty sure all of you won't run out of stuff to make for Liberty!

Don't copy the "Halo 4 Data" file to your USB. Look for the file named after your gamertag instead. It should be around 11 MB.
