Are you attempting to install XeX Menu? If you are, you leave the code9999 folder alone, I suggest Getting a big, empty usb harddrive.

1. Plug the USB HDD into the 360's usb port ( this is a USB HDD designed for a computer NOT ONE FOR AN XBOX)

2. In your NXE dash goto System Settings>Console Settings> Memory> Select the USB HDD>Then Select "Configure for Xbox 360"

3. Once you have done this run XEXMenu with the USB HDD plugged in, your xbox hdd plugged in, and your disk of the game you want the files of in the dvd drive.

4. In XeXMenu pres RB then press X, if a box does not pop-up then press RB and try again, when a box does pop up it should have a list:

USB0:

HDD1:

HDDX:

FLASH:

DVD:

5.Select DVD, you will see all of the basic files, Highlight the first folder or file in the list and press Y, the select Copy.

6. Press X and select USB0:

7. Press Y

8.(optional)Press Y and create a folder called GAMES.

9.Press Y and Create a folder called whatever you want(i recommend the game's name).

10.Inside the folder with the game's name paste the file youhad copied

11.Do the same for each of the files on the disk, but obviously come back and post in the same folder, and do not make a new folder each time.

12.Now Press LB until it says "Games Discovery at the bottom.

13.You should see something that says the name of the folder which you just created (note: if you do not put your files in a folder, which is in the folder GAMES you will not see anything in Game Discovery.

14.If you press A, it may run ok, but it may not work, in that case go back to the folder inside GAMES folder, by pressing RB until you are there.

15.Find the file called default.xex select it, but do not press anything.

16.Press Y and select patch xex

17.If you are patching Halo 3 you may want to skip 15, and 16, and plug the usb into your computer.

18.Download a tool called H3Unlock.

19.Right click the default.xex in your usb, and click properties. Make sure read only is UNchecked.

20.If you get an error saying unclean xex, you are using the deafault.xex from Halo 3 Multiplayer disk, which comes with ODST. To fix this go back to XEX menu

21.Put your Halo 3 disk(the one with the campaign on it)

22.Copy the default.xex onto your USB HDD and replace the current one(the one which gives you an unclean xex error)

23.Patch the new default.xex from the original halo 3 disk, in H3Unlock on your computer for the patches, I recommend Halo 3 1.2 Ultimate patch from the drop down box, as it not only allows modding, but also unlocks all armour (including recon and bungie chest, which makes the helmet go on fire)

I hope this tutorial helped Reply if you have any questions

Dude...Thanks so much :)

I do have a few questions.

1. (Halo 3) How do i get the default.xex back on? I'm using a transfer cable.

2.So the images and maps are from the disk?

Have you managed to patch the xex?

If you have then just put it in the USB HDD in the directory: USB0:\GAMES\Halo 3\default.xex

(You can name the halo 3 folder something else if you want, but its easier because when you go to the games discovery on XEXMenu, it shows up as whatever you named the folder as. You can then plug your usb hdd into the usb port at the front and play it from xexmenu.)

If you want to mod .maps, then download alteration from the modding programs section and open the .map file from the maps folder, which is in the same folder as the default.xex, do whatever you want to do on alteration hit save then put the modded .map file back in the maps folder, and play it as normal on XeXMenu.

P.S. I strongly recommend, you back-up the map files so you can start with an unmodded one if you screw a .map up while modding.

The files can now remai on the usb hdd.

Also, here are the .map names and what map they attually are:

Multiplayer Maps

Armory.map = Rat's Nest

Bunkerworld.map = Standoff

Chill.map = Narrows

Chillout.map = Cold Storage

Construct.map = Construct

Cyberdyne.map = The Pit

Deadlock.map = Highground

Descent.map = Assembly

Docks.map = Longshore

Fortress.map = Citadel

Ghosttown.map = Ghost Town

Guardian.map = Guardian

Isolation.map = Isolation

Lockout.map = Blackout

Midship.map = Heretic

Riverworld.map = Valhalla

Salvation.map = Epitaph

Sandbox.map = Sandbox

Shrine.map = Sandtrap

Sidewinder.map = Avalanche

Snowbound.map = Snowbound

Spacecamp.map = Orbital

Warehouse.map = Foundry

Zanzibar.map = Last Resort

Campaign Maps

005_intro.map = Arrival

010_jungle.map = Sierra 117

020_base.map = Crow's Nest

030_outskirts.map = Tsavo Highway

040_voi.map = The Storm

050_floodvoi.map = Floodgate

070_waste.map = The Ark

100_citadel.map = The Covenant

110_hc.map = Cortana

120_halo.map = Halo

130_epilogue.map = Epilogue

P.S. Campaign maps can only be found on the original halo 3 disk and mythic maps can only be found on the halo 3 multiplayer disk which was bundled with odst.

USB0:

HDD1:

HDDX:

FLASH:

DVD:

Green = Safe

Red = DO NOT TOUCH! Unless following instructions my a tutorial that you know works.

Too elaborate;

USB0: is a USB drive on the 360 (There are 3)

HDD1: This has Cache, Content, (Maybe Compatibility), Media

HDDX: This will have the compatibility Files in it if you chose to install them (Need Partition 2 maker XeX to view)

FLASH: The xbox 360 xex's that it uses to run all tasks. Like dash.xex, bootanim.xex, connectx.xex, createprofile.xex (you get the idea)

DVD: The DVD drive...
