Do you need a laptop, or can it be a regular pc as well, because in my experience there is no such thing as a "gaming laptop". Usually you´re always better off with a normal one, because the components are much cheaper and you can upgrade them later on. Also notebook manufacturers tend to save some money by installing cheap graphics cards. If I were you, I would only buy a laptop for gaming if I needed a mobile solution or if I didn´t have the needed space for a full blown tower pc.

This. Laptops are not meant for gaming. Get a regular desktop instead.

Looking at the specs you posted, I'd call it mid-range. The processor could be faster (2.1 GHz isn't really that great nowadays) and you could have more RAM (I'd say at least 8).

Yeah there's not really a good gaming laptop unless you want to spend an arm and a leg on an Alienware laptop that is like carrying around a desktop. They are so bulky and square and ugly and weigh a TON.

What games are you trying to play and are you wanting to play at max HD settings or what? Let us know so we can help more. Laptops have integrated cards (most do, Don't think i've seen one that doesn't though) so they never really can play a game maxed out at HD graphics or stuff like that

yea i know desktops are much cheaper and better but right now me and my wife are living with my parents, we are stuck in a small room and there is no room at all for a desktop =\. i just want a descent laptop that runs them ok until we get are own place then ill be getting a desktop.

it doesn't have to be on high i can deal with low settings until me and my wife get are own place and i have room for a desktop haha.

i want to play game's like skyrim, borderlands 2. and few other steam games. like i said before i can deal with haveing to have it on low as long as there is now lag on low.

this laptop said it has a dedicated graphics card instead of on-board so it may be descent

Oh if thats the case, that laptop should do the job. I think my bother has last years model and he can play most games on low settings or 1280x720. Try to find a laptop with similar specs from either asus or toshiba though. Their displays are supposed to be better.

This is a pretty damn good laptop

http://www.newegg.co...ilion g7-1328dx

It's the one I just ordered, huge 17" screen and amazing graphics. You can buy it new somewhere or just buy refurb on newegg

I have last years lodel of that lap top. Its really nice for a lap top. It can run Fallout NV on max as well as Crisis 1 with 40-60 fps

The one I have is a lil more beefed up, could set you back a good $1,000. I got this in place of a desk top because I just don't have the room :P
