How To Convert Skyrim Mods To Xbox360 Dlc

80 posts in this topic

I noticed, that weapons added with mods are very smooth, plain. On the pictures in the nexus they are looking more detailed (Im still talking about the shape, not the textures) Does it have something to do with the resizing of the textures? Or something with the meshes?

Hi there guys! My boyfriend just gave me his jtag 360 and I want to load a mod. he said i should add the bsa and esp in the data folder on the disc iso then reburn it, but that's different than making it a dlc like this tut... which way do you recommend we load this mod into the game? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19099

thanks SO much in advance for any help! :D

I'm not sure if voices would work, but I think this method is better for getting the dlc to load as you don't have to waste disks.

uh oh! the dlc pack I made says corrupted data! my bf said the console is flashed, so i learned how to burn backups and i just loaded a burned copy of skyrim now. i think the only way to get mods on here is by loading them into the iso then running the iso through abgx360. is this possible? PUH-LEEASE tell me it is? :3

thankies!!

Flashed Xbox's can't run these.  You need an xbox capable of running unsigned code (Jtag/RGH/Dev Kit)

If the console is flashed you can do this via .iso and place the mods in the data folder. It used to work for me in Fallout 3. I doubt it's any different than Skyrim.

really? interesting... i thought by changing files inside of the iso it would corrupt it unless it was around the same file size? i am SO going over my head here I think lol! but ive conquered tougher! i re-built the voices.bsa with new ones using bsa opt 2.0 beta... should i try replacing the original bsa with the new one i made? or remove the voices.bsa and just keep its contents in the data folder? SORRY i know this is totally confusing but it sounds like one of those would work! <3

@Naomi: By your description, your console isn't flashed, your disc drive is. There are two types of expoits for the 360: Homebrew and modded disc drives. Without a homebrew 360, you can't make DLC packages for any game (you can make them but the 360 security flags them as corrupt and won't let the game load them). Because of this you are very limited with Skyrim mods.

Skyrim will not automatically load esp or bsa mods from the data folder. You must add them to the Skyrim.ini file. Skyrim.ini has 10 slots for esp files. Skyrim.esm takes slot 1 so you can load 9 more esps from the data folder. The lines for the bsa files are limited to a certain length. I can't remember offhand but probably 256 characters. You could cheat this by renaming the stock bsa files to shorter names and rename them in Skyrim.ini.

Here is how to load example.esp+example.bsa

  • Copy example.esp and example.bsa to the data folder
  • Open Skyrim.ini and under the [General] section add a line like this
    sTestFile2=example.esp
    You can use sTestFile2 to sTestFile10.
  • At the end of sResourceArchiveList2, add a comma and the name of your bsa file like this
    sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa, example.bsa
Some notes:

You asked about playing with the loose files in your data folder (extracted from bsa and delete the bsa). The game will play incredibly choppy and increased load times overall. This happened to me playing from a hard drive. I can only imagine how bad it would be playing from a disc. You need to repack the bsa and replace the original.

Only use ABGX360 on the iso before you have modded it. It checks the data integrity so once you have changed/removed/added anything, it will give you errors. You can add files without corruption. If you added several HUGE mods, you could run out of disc space but I don't think you need to worry about this since you can only add 9 mods.

Also, it is possible that once you have added a couple mods that you need to change the load order. The only way I could successfully manipulate load order was to copy files to the hard drive opposite the order I wanted them to load. I don't know how to do it for an ISO. If you run a disc with added mods and it goes back to the dashboard after it starts "Loading Add Ons", it is either because the mod depends on a missing mod or because load order needs to be changed.

First post here....loving the site so far.

I have  question regarding the conversion of DLC.  I have never converted mods to DLC while using BSAopt.  I guess I have always done mine "manually."  i.e. made a simple DLC file from the ESP and copied the data over to my JTAG rip.  I tried using BSAopt and I followed the directions on this tut to the T, however my question is, are the scripts supposed to be lined out?

I opened the mod BSA with FO3 archive and I saw that the scripts were present....I guess I'm just curious.  Im uploading the DLC file now to see if it works

 If filenames have a line through them, it means the file already exists in the target folder and will not be extracted.

You would get this message if you try to do this on a retail box. I have also seen this message when trying to load an incompatible mod. Usually though, if the mod is incompatible then it freezes or crashes.

Where does it say it's corrupt? Skyrim? Xbox 360 Dashboard? Also, you could try to just put the .esp in the dlc and drop the contents of the .bsa into the Skyrim data folder.

You could use hotswapping (google it) But you have to be willing to open up your xbox (You don't really modify anything though).
