Convert Test Kit To Xdk

29 posts in this topic

So, apparently there are some xex files that you can run on a test kit to "convert" it into a full XDK. I immediately called bs on that but I've been wondering how something like that would work, would it just change the string in xlaunch.strings from test kit to development kit?

a test kit is just missing files in the nand and its typeset it test instead of one of the others to my understanding so basically all it does it change the kits type value to dev from test and add the files.

Don't mean to sound like a needy child, but do you happen to know how to change the type value? I would be able to get all the other missing files from the remote recov.

Found them, and having an XDK nand around it wasn't hard to figure out what/where to change.

or you can just run Run the xex then compare to see what was changed.

Typeset's part of the security certificate in the keyvault...

...but I wonder how you'd manage to change the keyvault when you're on an unpatched kernel.

So if I were to change the typeset to 80 00 00 01 from 40 00 00 01 and add the missing files into the flash partition...? would anything change? or would I have to inject the missing files directly into the NAND, but that would corrupt the NAND right?

Not sure where you're getting those typeset values from. Also, I'm pretty sure you'd need a modified kernel to even think of modifying your keyvault.

I was getting the values from 2 different nands I have, one from a test kit and one from an xdk.

If theres a .xex file to make it into a devkit /kernel i would love to have that, just so i can record my gameplay.

the xex will only work if you have a kit that is a test kit. It will not work on retail or jtags. If you have a test kit, or a slim kit that is appearing as a test kit. Send me a pm, I can help you out there.

Could you please send me this XeX as well ? And i heard that if you flash a dev KV to the nand it will make it a devkit

That's what I wound up doing. Then it bricked the console, and I had to manually reflash the NAND with a NAND-X.

So the information I bring is don't do that.

Like I said earlier, you can't edit your KV without patching KV checks out of the kernel. I wonder what that XEX actually does to change the console type...?

Hey DevUltra, if you get a chance could you possibly PM me some pictures of the SDK mobo? If you actually feel like opening it up. I just want to compare chip sets.

Mhm, looks exactly the same (physically) unless you're looking at a beta kit, in which case they have original Xbox logos on SB and ANA, lots of diagnostic LEDs, and often require a Titan board to run.

There's a v400 now?

Yeah. I looked at the cached page and it looks like it. I think I'm running on it right now, I've updated my nand sometime back.

Found another link to it: http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_forums/threads/197649-RGLoader-v0-400-released

Changelog:-Added support for 16537 -Too many fixes to name for RGBuild.exe -Fixed JTAG KDNet support -RGBuild now sets up KDNet in the nand image -Fixed filesystem issues, can now insert payload anywhere in nand and filesystem will rearrange itself. -Overall much more stable kernel patches -Options.ini -Ability to disable memory protection -RGLoader.xex -Added plugin loading -Will load ini from USB drive before hdd
