Gun Game - Wip

I was, shall we say prodded, to be more active over here, so here's some footage of Gun Game running in Reach. I'm still working on it, but you can see major progress

  • Now about 95% complete. Still working out a few bugs. In the video below you'll see some debug output on the screen that won't be there in the final build
  • Randomized weapons won't work with the tools I have, so there are five Weapon Progression options: Mixed Bag, Covenant, UNSC (with a few Covy weapons since there aren't 12 UNSC weapons), Melee Madness (which includes some non-normal weapons like the flag), and Precision Weapons (some weapons are used twice here)
  • I have a fix in place that automatically gives you the weapon back should you drop it. It only applies to special weapons like turrets or the flag, but it ensures you don't get stuck on a tier. Dropped weapons are automatically cleaned up by the gametype code.
  • I plan to add an option for Player Appearance: Spartan, Elite or Random. Looking into the Infection code (for other reasons) it's super easy to do.
  • I had hoped to do a straight port, with a few exceptions. After fixing things Reach couldn't do natively I still had to do much more. Probably only 30-50% of the original code remains, but it still plays the same.

Race version 1.1 - download

  • Based on the standard Race format
  • New vehicle options: Falcon, Revenant, None (on foot). Both work on Breakneck, Forge World, Highlands, Ridgeline, Spire, with the Falcon available on Boneyard and Breakpoint as well
  • New option: Announcer: Laps + Checkpoints, Laps only, Checkpoints only, Disabled (determines what the announcer calls out)
  • New option: Super Invincibility: Enabled, Disabled (when enabled, players can go anywhere there isn't an invisible wall. After the Return to Battlefield timer reaches zero players and vehicles are still alive. Mines still explode)
  • New option: Speedometer: MPH/KPH (visual only, doesn't actually translate into actual MPH/KPH)
  • HUD change: Speed is now at bottom center
  • HUD addition: Current lap / total laps is in upper right (for example "Lap 1 / 3")

More gametypes will come in the future. I've got a few friends who don't have Halo 4, and I love spreading the love to both 4 and Reach.
