This project is a work in progress and I plan on updating the files frequently.

I have currently [partially] designed the laser cut files for the housing. Here is a current parts list that I have collected for this scanner :

EasyDriver Stepper Motor Driver ($14.95) - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10267

10k Ohm Rotary Potentiometer ($0.95) - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9939

Wall Adapter Power Supply 12VDC 600mA ($5.95) - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9442

Stepper Motor with Cable ($14.95) - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9238

Arduino Uno R3 ($29.95) - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11021

Fixed Laser Mounting Stand($4.95) - http://www.adafruit.com/products/1094

Line Laser Diode - 5mW 650nm Red ($8.95) - http://www.adafruit.com/products/1057

Total Cost - $80.65 vs cost of Makerbot Digitizer $1,400

Here is the dropbox folder for the laser cut housing files(almost done), partial schematics, and the Arduino sketch to be controlled by DAVID-Laser Scanner :

I misread the title I thought you were talking about a 3D Printer. Those things are pricey.

I have a printer. That's why I am making this haha.

Im gonna laser cut the files on Monday.

You can buy a pre=assembled printRbot jr for just under £250, its cheap as fuck now.

I got my flash forge creator for $1200. Dual extruders and a pretty big build platform. Love it
