Error With Ksoft.tool: Ksoft.lowlevel.dll Not Working

32 posts in this topic

What would you like the title to be changed to?

Maybe it would be better to make a new thread that sums up all the issues that were covered in this thread, so people in the future with similar problems can find all the info in one post rather than looking through all the posts here?

I would suggest changing it to something like "Error with KSoft.Tool: KSoft.LowLevel.dll not working", however making a new topic and consolidating all of the information would work too. If you guys think that would be the best thing to do, I'll make it in a bit  (or if someone else wants to do it, then I don't mind :P)

Sweet! That fixed it for me too. Man these libraries are specific. You'd think the x64 would cover everything in the x86..

Yeah, it's Windows 7 64-bit. I have tried all of the patches (64-bit), but it still isn't working.

And just for reference, this is the error that I get when trying to encode an XML gametype file back into an actual gametype (this one was with the CTF gametype from here):

KSoftError4_zpsa1f412b6.png

1) The tool is 32-bit, not 64-bit. Getting the 64-bit versions won't do anything.

2) The newest tool isn't compatible with xml files generated from the previous release (which that CTF.xml was made from). I mentioned such in the HBO/halomods posts I made for the new update. You will have to decode a gametype using the latest release before you can encode with it.

Awesome, glad to have helped Gordon! :D

And yeah, I've decoded the gametypes and tried encoding them back, which worked fine!

Thanks for changing the title too, I'll update the OP with the solutions to help anyone else that has the issue.

At the moment I've just tried editing the title/author etc. on gametypes and putting the on Halo 4, and it worked! Is there a basic tutorial or something somewhere that I can follow just to learn some basics, or should I just experiment with gametypes and read the code?

There's not really a whole lot of tutorials out, however there is a thread here where people can discuss how to accomplish things via megalo. I'm probably not the best for giving advice on this as I've only done a little messing around with it, however I would suggest just tinkering with it a bit yourself to start

Decode existing gametypes; read various tutorials such as Weaponless Vehicles and learn how it's done; etc.
