Modding
Banshee AI in Forge World

Thanks Gamecheat for giving me the fixed AI Squad Flags

How exactly did you do this? Did you do it similar to how it was done in Halo 2, were you pulled out specific AI encounters and injected them into the map? Or can you make your own AI "tags" and just load them on forge world?

idk how it was done in Halo 2, but for this mod i just cleaned out the CHARs for injection and injected the AI Squads and all the blocks within them. I can probably make a patch that has some preinjeted AI Squads and CHARs and all you would have to do is set the base biped in CHAR and input the coordinates/other properties in AI Squads.

Any chance of a tutorial on that? I'd love to see this on other maps as well

sure, however, I'd like to wait a while as some things still aren't working. I can spare a patch if you want one, too.

 A patch would be awesome.

can the ai respawn?

kind of, they stand back up after you kill them, but not in their vehicles...

A patch would be awesome.

Lags for like the first second of the game. Go to the canyon, banshees should be dog fighting, you can join in on them. (Make sure to use AI enabled xex)

After playing around with it for like 10 minutes:

What stops the bipeds from walking when they get kicked out, if the banshees move just fine? And do they not attack me because they are holding gravity hammers?

And why did one throw a frag grenade at me once when i wasn't near it, but no one else has.

Anyway, this is still cool as hell.

Yeah like I said the AI is still very buggy, that's why this wasn't a formal release. I'm trying to figure this out myself. (all should throw grenades)

If your just ripping AI from the campaign, have you tried taking elite AI and applying it to the elite player bipeds?

huh?

This is what I meant. They have mouth data already set up, and I'm not sure if forge world contains the elite dialogue by default or you injected it, but they speak too. I also noticed if you try to splatter them they armor lock, and like Nowise said they sometimes throw grenades at you. Does any know if halo still runs on firing positions? Can be why they are not attacking.

Also not sure how, but one of them got a DMR and shot 2 rounds a time at me until I died

I figured it out, when I kill an elite, and place a weapon near his corpse, he automatically respawns with said weapon.

yeah, And the armor lock thing has to do with the spartan AI's styl. And yeah I've tried all of Forge World's bipeds.

Want to swap the vehicles around? Change the forced vehicle chunk to w/e you have in your vehicle pallet.

EG: Forced Vehicle Chunk = 1

For the lazy ones.

Edit: Under squads in scnr, will effect the respective squad ofc.

^Some pretty obvious info  ^

Anyways, if the AI  isn't firing a certain gun/vehicle, I may have accidentally nulled it from the ai/Generic.char, or the weapon wasn't in the campaign mission I extracted it from. To add it back open an ai/generic.char (from campaign map that you know has the desired weapon) and find the chunk the weapon you're trying to add belongs to in Unknown 29 and Firing Pattern Properties, then just add it to Forge World's AI generic. For example, AI can shoot plasma cannons, but not machinegun turrets, that's because on the patch I released It's nulled. It belongs to chunk 9 for unmounted machinegun turrets and 31 for mounted (on both blocks). If you poke the weap reference to the chunks in the AI should start to shoot.

If you change the grenade chance in the ai style, then they start to throw grenades. Also JJIRR if I re inject the char myself along with the biped, is there a possibility that they will not fly in their banshees, because I would love a ground fight.
