So I'm really curious. I've seen a lot of love and a lot of hate toward Halo 4, and I'm curious where people think aspects of the game went wrong, and what could be done to fix it. Me? I just want all the gametypes back and a some sort of "Classic" forge map that really allows for proper re-themed remakes of classic maps.

*EDIT*

Looks like that was campaign. As for the Hornet/Falcon, that bummed me out too. I really wanted the Hornet back (never liked the Falcon all that much).

For anyone curious, here's the video misterbanshee's talking about:

I don't think Halo 4 is going to be making a huge comeback or anything, but if 343 released a playlist with no sprint, no ordnance, and no loadouts, they would at least provide some fun for the competitively inclined.

Halo 4 needs to be less fast paced. The problem is that so much is going on at once you can't focus on one thing because you either get flanked or flat-out destroyed by people with active camo or jetpack. There is too much going on in my opinion and it isn't necessary. I would love for the fast paced gameplay to be slowed down a bit. This game needs some serious help especially with bringing something new to the table. Some of the game just seems like rehashed Halo: Reach, 343i could have made a more original game.

I would have loved to see a Clan System sort of like Halo 2 brought back but I think that 343i didn't have enough confidence to break the mold and bring something entirely new to the table. The ordinance drops were interesting but there was no sign of a Pelican or ship so you didn't get that feeling that there was something to bring more of a Campaign to Multiplayer bond. The graphics need improvement there is tons of places where I will walk up close and see a glitchy texture that looks blocky. There also should have been a open beta so that there wasn't so many glitches on release. I also felt that they made the Sniper Rifle way too easy to use in this game, where in other games the Sniper requires more skill.

I never got that argument. Yes, ordnance is random. But that means it's just different, skill-wise, not easier. With classic weapon placement it was all about where you spawned, since everyone would go for the power weapons anyway. Now we just get it further mixed with ordnance so we don't get that rocket launcher race at the beginning of every round, nor do we get people camping around power weapons.

That "it's less competitive" argument is so tired.

Being able to earn a RL isn't that bad, but when you can do so via assists and distractions and then take it somewhere safe to pick it up, that's aggravating - particularly when I earn a POD via a massive killstreak and all I get is a needler. PODs with fixed drop locations and maybe fixed drops per location would be much more balanced. Imagine being able to pick an on-map weapon to 'buy' with your POD points and just having to go there to get it. Map control, appropriate weapon palettes per map.. Damn - we should do this... lol got any ideas? I guess we'll have to omit the existing PODs system and create a proxy, essentially.

And personally I think 'support medals' shouldn't count towards it, but that's arguable. I guess I would prefer if kills and assists were all that counted. Not only would that reduce my issues with random idiots getting slaughtered and suddenly popping up with a power weapon from some corner of the map, but it would also slow down the really good players that basically have DB or OS on constantly because their multi-kills are racking up the PODs so fast.

Yep - randomness is fine in a loot-economy game, but in an arcade/competitive title it detracts from the contest of skill. Imagine if the was a wildcard piece in chess lol

Random ordnance brings unpredictability to Halo. Halo has always been known (until H4) for providing a fair playing field. Whenever you lost, it's because the other team is better than you, not because they got lucky and got an Incineration Cannon and rack up a couple of easy kills.

Randomness isn't and should not be considered "competitive". Chess isn't random. Nearly all sports aren't random; same for the uncontrollable elements like weather and injury.

Halo is supposed to be about outsmarting your enemy and having a better aim, not praying you'll get a weapon dropped right next to you.

The race for power weapons is one of the things that made Halo, "Halo". Everyone knew to rush for the power weapons and it's more skillful to keep track of all power weapons and when they will spawn next. It creates a metagame which increases the skill level.

Personally I don't mind the IC - it's ridiculously powerful, but it has the potential to be used as a solid incentive and really drive map control. It just needs to be implemented a little better. I think it's idiotic to have it on PODs and random drops. It should be a fixed map drop with a longer-than-average respawn time like 4-5 minutes, and of course it should be counterable with map terrain and other decent drops timed to contest it.

As for the lack of a human air vehicle, I never really liked the human air support in previous titles. I always found them annoying when used against me and underwhelming when I got my hands on one. Personally I'd like to see something more akin to an airborne Mantis with slow movement speed and decent firepower. I'm not against requiring team support or anything, but the Falcon isn't as resilient as I would like when it's loaded full, nor does it pack enough punch to make it worthwhile. I wouldn't mind a dumbed down version of the Halo Wars Vulture with Rocket-Hog-esque functionality.

Gordon, the Falcon is really powerful if you have a decent pilot (like me ), although I wish it could handle two Spartan Laser shots before blowing up. The pilot's extended radar is really useful.

I know - it's the durability that kills it for me combined with the load of people required - you have to use it for harassing more than getting kills and control if you don't want to hand out double/triple kills. I want an aircraft that can rampage like a Banshee.

The GL Falcon from campaign would be cool...

Edit: I think the thing that I don't like is the number of people that need to spend the time out of combat to allow the Falcon to remain effective (but stay alive) and the amount of firepower compared to the movement speed. If it could cut down vehicles faster and didn't need to use cover as much I think it would be a better competitor for the Banshee (with it's speed and flipping and the bomb). And a snout gun for the pilot wouldn't hurt. That always drove me nuts.

I kinda of missed Power-ups that were customizable, and not just through Ordinance.

The stuff for a custom powerup is already there and can be accessed with gametype mods but for some reason it got removed from the in-game user interface. :(

I'd like to see the Falcon return, and a front mounted machinegun would be handy in mp... one that can be operated by the pilot and a passenger.

It would be nice to see AA's/Armor mods implemented differently, in a way that could work for arena-style gameplay. Gordon and I have something interesting planned in that regard, and hopefully soon we can reveal it. Stay tuned for more details.

At least you don't ever get a suicide due to an random ordinance drop on your rear end. I always did when I first started out, then it got better.

All I think halo 4 really needs is a tune-up, if 343i added forge maps, new playlists, forge tlc update if possible to bring back old stuf & add in new items, palletes, etc, you would see an increase in population rise. Or better yet, instead halo xbox one(5), make an game disc which installs like the second disc on to your console with all new things for halo 4 people. Halo 4 expansion pack, falcon, hornet, items, etc on all maps, playlists, map packs, etc. Anyone that did not buy it (Obviously they would make us pay for it) would not be able to play with those who didn't, but I still say it'd be worth it.

I'd like to see a pelican in multiplayer and forge because the pelican has a machinegun and a laser and two side missile turrets. Wouldn't it be great to see a flying UNSC vehicle in Multiplayer/Forge.

I think Halo 4, aside from the small stuff, really just CAN'T have any more gameplay adder-onner's. The game's framerate drops as is with large map battles, so with bigger flying vehicles comes bigger environments, and that just can't be handled with current gen hardware. I think Halo 4 is good as it is, but can use a bit of change for those small things that really could be changed.
