Destructible Pelican Question

Here's a couple of questions. How does the pelican in Halo 3 seem to blow up on campaign mission Sierra 117 by the banshees? How can I destroy pelicans myself by modding the map file?

You can edit the damage in the class [hlmt] under the Health/Damage properties, and Damage Sections reflexives. You will not get the same "affect" that the pelican getting shot down by the phantom.

The pelican blowing up in that mission was a custom animation activated by a script, not by the pelican getting damaged.

So is there a way I could activate the script you are talking about so that the player can trigger the custom animation making it seem like the pelican is destroyed? As you said of course, it is not.
