A way to prohibit entering a vehicle, suggestions?

7 posts in this topic

Something you can do with weapons and objectives is set the interaction filter of it to allow or prohibit picking it up. I am looking for a similar thing or method to disable entering certain vehicles without traitsets.

If anyone can think up a clever way to do this I would be very appreciative.

Something I kind-of thought of is getting the distance between you and the vehicle, and check if you're not in a vehicle, and if you are close enough to get in and you don't have a vehicle apply traits to not let you enter vehicles. But this messes up other vehicles next to the one you aren't allowed in. If there is a mongoose near it then you can't get in...

A bug on 343i's race I ran into was trying to hop into a ghost but it kept dissappearing when I got close to it as I had it set on mongoose but reappearing when I drove away from it, it ticked me off,

Could you just attach the item to something there this rendering it collisonless until whatever action caused it to happen?

Well if I don't know how to replicate the bug then no... can you tell me more about it?

You could filter through each object, check if they are a vehicle (ObjectIsSameType) and give them an invisible boundary (I'd suggest the sphere type).

You can give each vehicle type a custom boundary, so ghosts and scorpions won't have the same boundary volume.

Just check if the player is inside the boundary and apply the traitset.

Yeah I know exactly how to do it, but as I said, if somebody places a vehicle next to it then you cant get in either of the vehicles. It has the potential to screw things up.

basically, have a ghost on the map & mongoose both set to race, so they won't dissappear. then choose mongoose in war games, so then you'll see both vehicles & I had a friend with me, he & I noticed that the ghost kept disappearing everytime we tried to get close to it, but respawned when we drove away from it. It does it with mongoose on the map as well, kinda cool but weird.

I'll just upload my disastrous map called jumpers, yea it was awful anyway & you can download it & use 343i's race game-type.

In fs now
