What Do You Think?

15 posts in this topic

I know the topic name is mysterious a little bit! :D But my main question to all of you is.... Do you think our Xbox Ones will be exploited by the time Halo Master Chief Collection comes out? Also if so how long do you think it will take in order for us to get Assembly to work with it or to make a whole other program to be compatible with it? ;) Also not including it could help us prepare for Halo 5 since the beta is locked away somewhere on the disc. (maybe) ;)

Team-Xecuter will most likely announce something after their cr4 is released. I probably won't purchase an Xbone since it's going to act like a brick except for modding with halo. I hope some sort of emulator comes out.

TX is working on it as 404 said. Even if they were able to get the nand to run unsigned code, they do not have the software a devkit has, as the 360 alot of the homebrew you find on moddified consoles come from DevKits, plugins/homebrew such as xbdm and Xexmenu come from 360Devkits. So what im trying to say is even if the Xbone gets hacked it really couldnt do anything because there is no "released" homebrew to put on there, unless they got ahold of a devkit or recreated homebrew that alows you to moddifiy the game content of the HDD.

The bone likely won't be hacked anytime soon, but as long as there's a disc rip I'll certainly be poking around the maps.

The beta isn't going to be on the disc, that would be silly.

Very unlikely. Unless MS really fucked up this time around, it will have only been out for about a year. Even if an exploit is found, you won't be seeing the tools to actually mod games anytime soon.

Do you thing we'll have something when H5 releases? maybe some simple usb modding for retail consoles like with Megalo gametypes...

considering back in november some modders managed to dump a nand of a xbone and last i remember around april there was news of an exploit found that could lead to homebrew. its possible if they keep working at it.

I don't have an Xbox One yet, so I'm kind of talking out my ass here, but people have been telling me that USB modding will never even be possible due to how games store local files now. (I was told that games either store to internal hard drive or cloud only.) There currently isn't even support for saving anything to flash drives (only external hard drives), although I don't know what MS has planned for the future.

However, if the Master Chief Collection lets you download from the 360 game fileshares... ;)

Right, Megalo mods could be possible if they allow for downloading old content.

I think the possiblities are endless.... Honestly I think we may have a exploit by Novemeber if we work together and not be so secretive about everything. But I respect the people who work hard on getting exploits out there. I plan on doing some research into the topic but I need to find time since I have been busy lately. I plan on investing in another Xbox One... So I could try to dump the nand so I could research and try to exploit it... But I think it will take more then one Xnox One and it will take a while.... But I think we may have a exploit before then or sometime next year... I think we will be able to mod the next Halo games once we have a exploit. Overall the .maps should be about the same as the original... I would imagine at least... Just with a few tweaks.

The thing you have to realize, though, is that finding an exploit is just part of it. Someone still would have to figure out how everything works and come up with a way to force your console to be a devkit, and that isn't exactly easy. Will we see a way to mod games at some point? Probably. Will it be by November? I seriously doubt it. (TX can prove me wrong, though.)

Also, don't take this the wrong way, but I wouldn't recommend buying another Xbox One right now just so you can dump the NAND, because it'll be a waste of your money and time. Finding an exploit isn't as simple as opening a NAND dump in a hex editor and searching for the word "hack"...you need a lot (and I mean a lot) of knowledge regarding computer security, software development, and electrical engineering. Plus, the NAND image is probably encrypted anyway, meaning you'd need a way of also dumping the bootloader from hardware, and good luck with that.
