From the PS3 beta, so ignore cell stuff. I cleaned up most of the garbage and a fair amount of SCE junk too.

 

So it looks like Bungie's new engine is internally referred to as Tiger (i.e. Project Tiger)? Also, only platforms in development seem to be PS3, 360, PS4, and Xbone. No PC builds, at least not in their main builds.

 

Lots of internal stuff reminds me of blam engine cache files. That being said, I'll probably take a look at data files next. 

 

(Also apologies if the string dump isn't 100% allowed! I just wanted something good to kick this thread off with. Admins can edit that out if they wanna.)

 

Anybody else been looking at this game?

Yeah, I'm only interested in the 360 version. You can feel free to look into the PS3 version on your own if you wish, but I don't know how different the data files will be, so looking into them right away on PS3 is kinda pointless.

its a shame because im getting the one version.....and everyone is still sticking to 360.....people buy a one jeez lol

I'm not getting an Xbox One because of reasons I don't want to go into right now, and I know Zedd isn't either.

The fact of the matter is that all of us have 360s and the new consoles haven't been exploited yet. So focusing on the 360 version of the game is just the logical thing to do at the moment.

Well I'm getting Destiny for 360 and i guess strings 5817-5826 are for button/stick layouts. Looks like i'll be able to use the Recon control scheme some more :biggrin:

 

Oh and I also sense a Map Editor of sorts...

I can't imagine the 360 version would be much different. Looking at these packages right now (they're not PS3 system packages, obviously). I'll post whatever I can figure out. They don't look like Reach or H4 cache files.

 

EDIT: Headers vary in the same places, but it's hard to determine what they really mean. There's nothing denoting the EOF, surprisingly. at 0x800 there's always a 2048-bit long block of seemingly random data (easily a signature for the file). File positions might be relative. Halo cache files liked to do that.

 

There's some sorta file descriptor, maybe a filetable at 0x1000. On ui_login.pkg it's "ui_login". On bootstrap.pkg it's got a few entries, including ones like: "map:bootstrap:root". Pretty neat. 

 

Also 100% useless but every package has "live tool_lib test pc_x64 41345.14.06.30.2046.live 14.06.30 2046" in the header. Probably like blam versions in the header.

Sounds like they might be compressed containers of some sort. Look up a program called offzip if you don't have it already and run the files through that.

The bulk of the data in packages is definitely encrypted/compressed, but it's not zlib or gzip, I already checked.

When I was poking through the PS3 files for the beta I just assumed the PKG files were just a means of compression used on PS3.

 

 

I've done some research myself. Some of it may be old or irrelevant, but it's something:

 

  • Destiny will enlist the Demonware online service
  • Destiny will support up to 6 controllers.
  • Online games will support reserving spots (possibly for custom games?)
  • It appears players will not be able to join matchmaking games in progress?
  • There's references to player created content such as gametypes and maps.
  • I've found references to Megalo.
  • Twitch, Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook will be integrated into the game.
  • Product keys?

I believe you can get an additional 3 codes for your platform to fill out your fireteam in Destiny Beta. A few of us including me will be playing on the Xbox 360 so I could possibly give one to you since I have no one else to give them to.
