Hey y'all,

Today I proudly present Skyline. Skyline is a custom map I've created in the Ivory Tower BSP. As the pictures show, Ivory Tower is almost completely erased, which allowed me to create an entirely new environment and arena on the rooftop of two custom-made buildings. This map is full of obstacles, trees, and challenges--including jumping between buildings when you're on the offensive. Skyline was created to be a small yet intense combat map. In my test trials, I have found that there are just enough obstacles to use as cover while just enough to remain non-restrictive. This symmetrical map is littered with weapons both minor and heavy. You will find each building contains the very necessary sniper rifle and rocket launcher, too. My favorite addition to the map, however, is the new flying vehicle that I have ported from Halo Custom Edition on the PC: the Wasp. This vehicle adds an entirely new perspective to this cityscape, allowing players to make flybys firing both a machine gun and secondary rocket. In the end, I have persisted in constructing a well balanced, symmetrical custom Halo 2 map. I hope you enjoy Skyline.

Lastly, there are two versions in the file. There is an original version and a Real Time Shadows version. Some people like aesthetics and don't mind a bit of lag if the map looks better. With the Skyline (Real Time Shadows aka RTS) patch, the map has real lighting coming from the spotlights. RTS is buggy at times, but it adds a much more real environment to your map. I debated whether even creating a RTS version, but I included it only because I actually did debate this. I prefer the original. You may prefer the latter.

Bugs:
I havent found any combat bugs except that sometimes you will "fall" off your Wasp while flying. The banshee barrier has tremendously helped remove the possibility of flying through the bsp and ultimately killing yourself.

Also, CTF gametypes may not work perfectly. Territories, oddball, and King of Hill "should" work. The big issue with gametypes is the team spawning. Unfortunately for the players, I am moving on from this project in order to make a different map.

if you made the Ski resort mod, that is my all time favortie, i'm about to download and play this and your pirate map, Thank you sooo much for making new mods, and keeping this going,  they aren't even just mods that you're making they are pro mods. bout to play this with a friend.

Haha, thanks guys! Yeah, I play around a little bit. :smile: So glad to hear y'all still play my maps. That is great to hear. I recently fixed a system link bug in Ski Resort that I'd be happy to link you to if youre interested. It doesn't change anything in the map except it allows a better SLC experience. No worries if you're content on your current edition. Y'all should swing by www.remnantmods.com. The last of the Halo 2 modders are there and we just dabble here and there. I actually rarely play Halo, which is ironic. I typically just do game development as a little hobby of mine.

Hey, can you explain what you mean here? I read it as the Wasp spawned as a literal Banshee. That worries me because it shouldn't. You may also mean that it flies like a banshee. It flies similarily to a banshee--and it shouldnt be that similiar either. The Wasp has no boost, has primary machine gun, has secondary rocket projectile, has no strafe, and has a small turn radius. The Wasp in Halo CE wouldn't work here. It accelerates too fast and its machine guns only shoot in one direction. I could have injected custom sounds, but it wasn't that necessary. Considering the amount of people who will actually play this, I don't feel like overexerting myself on very minute details. Oh, It isn't going to be perfect because the Banshee has other specific properties that can't be changed--like the flips it can do.

 

Also, the patch to the map will not change the map in anyway except that, if you play on system link, the other players who are not host will experience the same map. The map on nonhosters has deleted objects. This patch will fix it...I hope. I still need to test it out, but I am 90% sure it's fixed. :laugh:
