Why do you hate the Xbox One?

37 posts in this topic

If I look on amazon at 50gb blu ray discs a set of 6 from verbatim is normally $78, seeing that price I'm not surprised that they aren't wanting to go for a second disc, espceially when that disc will only ever be used a few times compared to the disc that will be going in the console and read everytime you want to play.

and fyi you don't need xbl to enjoy offline features so you do get offline profiles you just need the internet to set the console up the first time

and the console starts at $399 in the usa without kinect.

Here's the thing though. Let's say I only want an Xbox One to play MCC and Halo 5 multiplayer.

$400 console

+ $120 for two year-long XBL subscriptions (one for this year, and one for next year when H5 comes out)

+ $60 MCC

+ $60 Halo 5

= $640. And that doesn't include sales tax.

So I'm looking at almost $700 just to play a bunch of games that I already own and a new one which there isn't any reason to expect much from. And that's without the Kinect too, which everyone always says is so nice to have. So add an extra $100 for that.

This is the main issue that I have with the Xbox One.

Also think about down the road when the xbone is a 20 year old console, how are you going to play your games?

Easy DRM circumventions will be made by that point. That's like saying "How will I play my NES?" Simple: either get any old emulator or (unlikely) actually dust off the old console. In 20 years software DRM cracks will be readily available letting you play your online-only-DRM games on a softmodded machine. Patches will be available somewhere on the internet. Same deal with profiles, etc. By the time the console's life is gone all that stuff will be in the works by modders.

Im hoping so, but we shouldn't be the ones saving the console.

I cant diss the one too much, though the choices of games are still minimal after a year wait we finally get halo mcc. Specs aside im not going to diss them since its A HELL of a lot better then the 360. I like the fact that its quite as shit and does not heat up after a fulls days use.

Im loving it as a settopbox, and once more games come out im sure ill love it as a gaming console as well, come december im getting a ps4 as well to compare the 2

Personally i cant understand why the modding community despises it so much, but im not questioning their opinion on it. But alot of what i can tell it seems like alot of people have given up on microsoft which confuses me since when geoholtz cracked sonys ps3 they jailed him

Where as microsoft just turned a blind eye unless caught which then they would simply ban the console. Its a shame since from my opinion sony are the pricks in this scenario.

My opinion specs between the ps4 and the one is like comparing apples and oranges. but both an apple and orange will feed you so i would just say stop complaining and eat your fruit

My problems with it are largely inverted from most. I couldn't care less about graphics -- at least not to the point of comparing X1/PS4/PC. I still enjoy a good PS2/Gamecube/Xbox game and can get perfectly enveloped.

My problem is that I won't be using all the bells and whistles personally. I wasn't sold on the Kinect, so I'm glad that got pulled. That's one down. But then you have the all-in-one features that I'm not interested in. We don't use cable anymore, just Netflix and other streaming services. All of our movies and TV are either streamed or stored on our media center devices, so none of that interests me. I also have very little interest in streaming my gameply (though I can see how that's a cool feature). On the other hand the X1 has the exclusives I want. The PS4 is a great machine, but I switched to Microsoft in the aging days of the original Xbox. For me Gran Turismo was the only PlayStation exclusive franchise that was great and that has continued. I'm not really a fan of the Japan-based game scene, Twisted Metal hasn't had a good game since Black, and Jet Moto died on the PS1. It's a great series of machines, but in the games control where I play, and Microsoft has a faithful customer in that respect.

All that being said I actually don't see any rush in jumping to next gen. Destiny doesn't seem any better on the X1 than 360, and from the little I've played on 360 it isn't nearly as innovative as it was billed to be. The MCC looks great, Forza Horizon 2 looks amazing on the X1 (and is pretty great on the 360, btw), and there are a few others that look great. But I don't see me making the jump until at least a few months after Halo 5 comes out and we see if 343 has truly stepped up to our expectations.

ah Forza Horizon 2, I pre-ordered it on demand, was pissed that america still got it 3 days earleir and I love the game, it is absolutely stunning. I just wish they went more in depth with the upgrades/car mods this time instead of stock turbo, sports turbo, race turbo, stock valves, sport valves, race valves.

I'm just wondering why people specifically hate the Xbox One, I personally love my one but I'd love to hear peoples reasons for why they don't like it.

Please do not mention PS4 and graphics though, the difference in graphics between the Xbox One and PS4 is negligible to say the least as the normal user won't notice any true difference.

I think rgh xbox's are better/funner, because your "Not" limited to what you can do.

Homebrew =

Free Games,

Mod Games,

Customize Anything You Want,

Create/Sandbox What You Want,

Play Everything That This Website Has,

Play Every Old Games And Emulators,

And, Endless Possibilities.

I'm not saying Xbox One is "bad", i just have never had an intrest.

They've broken the trust of just about everyone.

Plus that I like the 360, can't afford the one nor a gaming computer, and I'll wait when the xbox mega willion or etc will come out. I mean technology is advancing rapidly, here soon will have a pen that cooks are food and wipes are butt for us. Not really, but I know that another console in about probably 7-10 yrs will come out & I can get the xbone for reduced price that way.

Gaming PCs do not have to be expensive, I built mine for around $500 and it plays every game I have tried on maxed settings. For under $350 you can build a PC on par with the XBone. You can look at these builds to give you the best bang for your buck.
