Modding
(Solved) How to change elite ai armor color?

7 posts in this topic

I’m not sure of the process. I’ve heard different things but not seeing a clear way.

Arguments box, how does that work exactly? What would it take to create solid black values?

Thank you!

I'm not home, and I don't have perfect memory, but this is something I am doing for my mod lately.

I believe it is in the .char file for the unit.

The section you want has another section nested inside of it, and I think can be found by searching for "Permutations".

The first section range looks like this: 0 - 3 (4)

This allows you to select the type of channel I think, main channels in most games being Diffuse (detail texture), Specular (shiny effect), and so on. I don't know which one is which, but I know that editing the last colour channel can completely override the overall colour, so play with less vibrant colours for that.

In the nested section, the range controls what unit you are editing. Pay attention, this means that if you want to edit an Elite Officer, you will need to change the first section range for the colour channel, then the second section range to match the unit whose colour channel you want to edit; it's annoying and I'm probably just being confusing, so play with it for a bit and you should get it!

Good luck!

It’s not in character, that manages behavior, I found it in render-model/mode, but it only lists boxes with check marks.

I see no way to change anything pertaining to color.

Ok, so I can't trust my memory, that's good news. Try the .bipd, it must be there!

I have time tonight to check it and I'll get a screenshot of it.

No problems, just experiment with the top range; you can get very interesting results by mixing colours and some don't work as you would expect.

Do lots of testing and keep in mind that poking the changes won't apply to already loaded units, you have to reload the map, or in the case of a firefight map wait for a new unit to spawn.

Edit: I can't spell.
