Why do you hate the Xbox One?

37 posts in this topic

I'm just wondering why people specifically hate the Xbox One, I personally love my one but I'd love to hear peoples reasons for why they don't like it.

Please do not mention PS4 and graphics though, the difference in graphics between the Xbox One and PS4 is negligible to say the least as the normal user won't notice any true difference.

Price.

I would love to have one but I'd never use it, also the technology is ancient by my standards. :c

I got mine for £350 with kinect and Forza 5, which believe it or not I use more often than not for voice commands

The hardware is very weak and outdated compared to what I have in my gaming PC, and I don't feel like any of the exclusives would make it worth it for me. I'd pretty much be paying $500+ just to play Halo, and as a college student with not a lot of money, I simply can't justify purchasing one.

I bought into the anti-Xbox One sentiment for sometime, but I finally forced myself to buy one in August. I love it. I feel it was a great investment when I reflect back. I do kinda agree with AMD, I've been a PC elitist for a while, but it's just a circle jerk. Even though my PC is worlds more powerful than my Xbox One, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. Honestly, because of the social aspect of the Xbox, I often find it more enjoyable than PC gaming (forgive me, GabeN). I know that all of you "edgy" people who talk shit about the Xbone are going to be buying one eventually anyway.

Edit: When can we expect an Xbox One emulator for the N64?

We talk shit because it is a terrible console. If i didnt have someone give me one for less than the actual selling price id never get it. Just because we hate something doesnt mean we wont deal with it to play Halo. You should know what thats like.

Also i wouldn't take shots at misterbanshee when he has never taken his modded console online

I don't see how it is a terrible console though, it has Halo and Forza for exclusives plus the multi platforms and contrary to popular belief Microsoft do listen to their customers. All I've ever heard from people about it is the lower graphical power (no thanks to the hordes of idiotic PS4 fanboys which in comparison to the PS4 is negligible) but when did graphics stop something being good and/or good fun to play?

Edit: I have also never took my JTAG online and I do not intend to.

Can you go into detail about how it's a terrible console? How's it any worse than the 360? And you're right, I do. Halo (and Destiny...) is the main reason why I bought it.

I love my Xbox one . The upgrade from the 360 is nice it handle very well and is a great step up from the 360.

Where the hell is Halo 3 for PC then? Gotta hord that money first for 20 years then it will happen.

Maybe you guys need to see that halo should stay on the xbox nothing wrong with that I like the pc for Halo Custom edition but i do not agree with making anymore halos on PC.

No offline accounts, Games always require a 2000000TB update at launch and internet, No real LAN, 2007 hardware, ugly UI, small unchangeable HDD, Capture software saves to cloud only and upto 5 mins only. There is much more but i cannot think of any right now.

Next-gen is a joke that pretty much anyone can see.

Becuase its a valid thing to do. Consoles are becoming more like PC's with the hardware they use so why not compare them?

The Xbox one is available in markets where the average user has internet access anyway so your first point is invalid

Games do not need a large update all the time at launch, at least not with the Digital Copies (which is what I buy)

We're in 2014, there is literally very little need for lan play

I like the ui personally

500GB isn't particularly small

and the game dvr is limited not by the hardware but by MS, I would think for copyright reasons (it also saves a copy to the local hdd I believe.

I mean customers as a whole, I love Halo with all my heart but the fanbase is quite small compared to the entire Xbox userbase

Can you go into detail about how it's a terrible console? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I want to know why you feel it is. And you're right, I do. Halo is the main reason why I bought it.

These days the console itself has gotten a bit better.

However, it is still missing features the 360 had (offline profiles) which are getting brought back at a snail's pace and I believe the internal upscaler still crushes blacks like it was the Jim Crow era. System Link is basically taboo, with multiplatform titles having the option completely removed. The exception being MCC which has to arbitrarily phone home to XBL to use it like some kind of DRM. The TV thing stuff was also incredibly forced, with I think only recently even actually supporting those outside of the US. And the console itself is underpowered and prone to RAM conflicts which as a result is hindering graphics of multiplatform games for the sake of "parity". (Hi Ubisoft!)

But the main issue is that the air around it is still foul. It's hard to forget how defensive they were of their original poor choices after the announcement, how they didn't listen one bit until the actual preorder numbers came in. All the smug comments from the likes of Don "It’s called Xbox 360" Mattrick and Larry "We can't just flip a switch" Hyrb really doesn't help either.

And by sticking to their guns for so long (Kinect) the eventual 180 was a slap to the face of developers that trusted them. Remember that Fantasia game by Harmonix? Notice how there is next to no marketing or anything anymore compared to before they cut Kinect?

They've broken the trust of just about everyone.

When i had an Xboner it had a GB update for Cod Ghosts, MCC has a 20gb update and forza had a huge update iirc.

Its not invalid because alot of people have unstable internet or dont have it at all. To think everyone has internet is selfish. Also think about down the road when the xbone is a 20 year old console, how are you going to play your games?

Oh boy this blew up fast.

I'm not being "elitist" and I'm not circle jerking. I have no problems with consoles. Otherwise I wouldn't be on this site. I'm simply stating that my PC fulfills all of my gaming needs moreso than an Xbox One would, and as a result I don't feel like it would be worth my money to invest in an Xbox One. And no, I honestly do not have any plans to buy one anytime in the future.

Maybe you guys need to see that halo should stay on the xbox nothing wrong with that I like the pc for Halo Custom edition but i do not agree with making anymore halos on PC.

Why do you not agree with making Halo available to more people, other than the fact that you have an Xbox One and want to feel special because it's the only platform that has it? In fact, a Halo port to PC would hopefully mean modding tools. You do want those, no?

And I'm comparing consoles to PC because both can be used for gaming, so I see no reason not to. As I stated before, because my PC is more powerful than an Xbox One is and can run games at higher resolutions and frame rates, I have no need to purchase an Xbox One other than for exclusives, and I do not feel like any of the exclusives are worth me paying $500 to play.

I do not think the Xbox One is a terrible console. It's just not worth $500 to me.

Modding tools come with text tutorials without videos and pictures. 0/10 dont want.

I'll chime in and post my thoughts as I have not had anything good to say about the system...

First I will say that I have a moderate to good internet about 50mbs down and 14mbs up through Comcast. So with that being said I would think I shouldn't have any problems ummmm wrong. There may be some underlying reason for my issues and someone may point this out but I can assure you I had no struggles with 360. For starters people I played perfectly fine with on 360 I can no longer hear in a party and or game chat. Also connecting to others has been extremely annoying especially in destiny... I get error messages nearly all the time sometimes making the game unplayable.

I honestly only have the one for MCC of which I am disappointed with some design choices that are being made which Zedd has already touched on.

Please don't call it an "Xboner" it is a rather childish name for it.

From the start, our philosophy has been to give Halo fans the best possible experience and not compromise the quality or features of the collection.  The result is that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will take up almost all of the usable space of a single Blu-ray (45 GB), and we will also issue a content update at launch that is estimated to be 20 GB.  You’ll be able to start playing Campaign and more as the content is installing, with some features and multiplayer content being added via the update. Yes, the update is large, but we weren’t about to cut corners to save disc space.  This ensures that you are getting every bit of Halo goodness we can fit in.  Our work is not done, however, as we continue to tune, tweak and optimize the online experience to ensure a smooth multiplayer launch. This will continue right up until launch day.

They could have pressed another disc, sounds like they are just trying to finish up after the game went gold. Also xboner.
